My name is Russell Solberg and I use this site for communicating with friends and family as well as learning new technologies such as jQuery, the ASP.NET MVC framework, and LINQ to SQL. I have been a software developer and business technology analyst for the past 5 years at a Fortune 200 company.
I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest living primarily in Washington with the exception of a two year stint in Oregon. I grew up in Mount Vernon, WA, home of the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. Growing up there were a couple of things that I found a passion for in life with the first being technology. As far back as I can remember I was always taking things apart (maybe not putting them back together very well though) just to see how they were made. The second big passion in my life is sports. I can remember playing in the South Skagit Little League for 5 years and also the Parks & Recreation Flag Football league.
I currently live in the Vancouver, WA area (think Portland, OR metropolitan area) with my beautful wife Melissa, our son Owen, and Ally our golden retreiver. Melissa and I met while we both attended Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) in Tacoma, WA for our undergraduate studies. At PLU, I received my Bachelors in Business Administration (BBA) with a concentration in Information Management in May of 2004.
A few years after completing my BBA, I decided that it was as good a time as any to pursue my Masters in Business (MBA) degree at Seattle University (SU). I started attending SU in September of 2006 as a part-time student while working full time at PACCAR as a software developer. I completed my MBA in December of 2008 and have been enjoying my newly found free time by taking a couple of vacations to Mexico and Florida.
